Israeli soldier killed by Hezbollah explosive drone in S. Lebanon

JERUSALEM, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Monday that one of its combat engineering soldiers was killed in southern Lebanon by an explosive drone launched by Hezbollah.

Israel's state-owned Kan TV News reported that the drone hit an Israeli army armored personnel carrier near the village of Debel on Sunday afternoon, killing the soldier and seriously injuring his commander.

Kan noted that the vehicle was being used by the IDF to evacuate wounded soldiers.

Throughout Sunday, Hezbollah launched more than 30 drones at settlements and army outposts in northern Israel, as well as additional drones targeting IDF forces in Lebanon.

Despite a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon that took effect at midnight on April 17, Israel has continued carrying out strikes in Lebanon, while Hezbollah has launched attacks on northern Israel and Israeli military positions in southern Lebanon.
