Iran's Islamic republic leaders have named hard-liner Mojtaba Khamenei to replace his father, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as supreme leader.
"The assembly announces that, following thorough and extensive deliberations....in today's extraordinary session it has, on the basis of the decisive vote of the honorable representatives of the Assembly of Experts, designated and introduced Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the third Supreme Leader of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the Assembly of Experts said in a statement on March 8.
