NICOSIA, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Cyprus will actively promote stronger European Union (EU) engagement with Lebanon, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides announced on Wednesday.
The announcement came after Christodoulides held talks in Nicosia with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, who is on a visit to Cyprus.
"At the EU level, Cyprus will do everything to raise awareness of Lebanon's strategic importance to regional stability," Christodoulides said.
The two presidents pledged to expand bilateral cooperation in such fields as energy interconnectivity, border security, trade, and tourism.
