Lebanon, Oman agree to boost economic ties

BEIRUT, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon and Oman agreed on Monday to boost their economic cooperation in private and public sectors, according to a statement by Beirut's Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

The statement was released on the occasion of a visit of a Lebanese delegation to Oman.

Mohamad Choucair, head of the chamber, agreed with ministers from Omani Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion as well as Omani Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, to facilitate Lebanese investments in Oman by exempting them from taxes and encourage Omani businessmen to invest in Lebanon.

The two sides also agreed to promote Lebanese industrial products in Oman and boost tourism exchange between the two countries.

Lebanon and Oman also agreed to start direct flights between the two countries.
